IRMA Newsletter: April 2025

Our Semester So Far

We kicked off the semester with two incredible experiences—back-to-back trips to Grange Insurance and an unforgettable Risk Management Day with the Columbus Blue Jackets. These opportunities allowed students to gain real-world industry exposure, engage with top professionals, and witness firsthand how risk management plays a crucial role in both business and sports.

A Quote from IRMA Student Matthew

“I’ve learned so much about insurance through the IRMA program, but I’ve also developed my leadership and business skills as well. IRMA is a great all-around program for improving your business skills and understanding of insurance and it sets you up well for your future career.”

Grange Insurance Trip

After the students had the opportunity to tour the company’s innovative office space, they discovered how AI is revolutionizing the future of insurance, with valuable insights from Renis. They explored how AI is transforming underwriting, claims processing, and customer service, which will pave the way for more efficient and personalized insurance solutions. Over lunch, students networked with industry professionals, asked questions, and learned about potential career paths in the growing field of AI within insurance. A huge thank you to the entire Grange team for their warm hospitality and for making this an unforgettable experience!

Blue Jackets Risk Management Day

The excitement continued with Blue Jackets Risk Management Day at Nationwide Arena, where students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at arena operations. The day included a career panel, a networking fair, and discussions on the evolving landscape of risk management in the sports industry. The event concluded with an action-packed Blue Jackets hockey game, bringing an exciting close to a great day of learning and connection. Thanks to all involved.

Introducing the Graduated Seniors

As we celebrate the achievements of the graduating seniors from the IRMA program, we recognize the hard work and dedication that have brought them to this moment. These students have shown immense growth and perseverance throughout their time in the program. They share their thoughts and reflections on their experiences.

Kelly one of our incredibly successful seniors said, “I joined the IRMA program during my junior year at Ohio Dominican University, and it ended up being one of the most valuable experiences of my college career. Through the program, I built great friendships and connected with industry professionals during our weekly meetings, which helped me learn more about the insurance world. One of the biggest takeaways from IRMA was realizing that no matter what your major is, there’s always a place for you in the industry.”

“The program also gave me the chance to visit different agencies, see how they operate, and explore what they have to offer. Now, as a recent December graduate and a current grad student, IRMA has helped me land internships and make connections with professionals who can open doors for future career opportunities after grad school.”

With Celia’s remarkable impact on the program, she had very authentic words about it, “My experience with the IRMA program is what set me up for success in my career field post-graduation. I am thankful for the hands-on internship experience and connections I made through networking with insurance professionals. These connections and experiences are what helped me land a full-time role straight out of college and made myself feel prepared to make an impact on this industry.”
